Meet a colorful talent coming straight from Finland! And she does a lots more than just posing all pretty!
1) What can you tell us about your background, upbringing, etc.?
I’m a Finnish DJ, club promoter, alternative model and percussionist. I have been active on DJ’n since 2005 and so far I have been spinning in 10 different countries. I’m one of the organizers of the biggest gothic event in Finland, Lumous Gothic Festival, and founder of EBM/industrial club Redemption and 80’s Party of Tampere. I’m doing alternative modeling quite often for my own promotional use or for hair, clothing etc. designers. And I’m also playing electronic drums for a fetish electro band called SinMasters, and doing shows sometimes depending on the gigs. For now, I have also a new live project with the singer of Two Witches (also another singer of SinMasters).
2) When did your interest in all things fetish got started?
When I got to know about the gothic circles, I guess the fetish scene came up for me quite same time. First I got interested on the clothing and stuff and then to the other things.
3) Was your first professional modeling assignment already in the alternative genre?
Well, actually I have only been modelling in the alternative genre so far… But I’m always looking for new, interesting assignments!
4) Would you say that there’s a big fetish scene in Finland?
I don’t think so. There aren’t so much fetish parties and even less fetish performers in Finland. Though we have quite a lot burlesque performers but I don’t see burlesque common with the fetish scene.
5) Tell us a bit about your DJ activities. What kind of music and events do you prefer?
I spin mainly in EBM/industrial/harsh electro parties but also in gothic rock parties. I have also been spinning in fetish parties. Besides those we are running 80’s Party in Tampere which contains mainly 80’s synthpop and other classics of that decade.
6) How did Zynthexia became your professional artist name?
I wanted an artist name that would be a bit more unique so I figured out Zynthexia. Since that I have been using it and so it became my artist name.
7) We’re wondering why isn’t there an official website yet…? Any plans?
I use MySpace as my official website as nowadays people don’t visit actual homepages anymore because they are using so much social networks such as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter… you name it. I also think that MySpace is the best channel for DJ’s, bands and other performers for social networking so that is one of the reasons why I’m using it.
8) What’s your own personal fashion weakness (shoes, corsets, etc.)? And what kind of work do you do as a fashion designer?
I’m a total fashion freak. I always try to keep my eye on the latest fashion trends in alternative and in common fashion scenes. If I would have to name only one fashion weakness it would be shoes, high heels... and cyber and fetish wear. When designing my own things, I don’t take so much influences from other people's work because I try to create something own with my handprints on it. I also buy quite a lot of shoes and other people's designs, especially latex clothes, because I’m not so professional with those yet, though I have been practising with those now for some time.
9) Is there a comic book heroine or popular fantasy character that you would like to portray for a photo assignment in the future?
Hmm… not really but some kind of super heroine could be cool. lol
10) When you have time to relax (do you?), which activities do you prefer?
I don’t have so much free time because I always manage to keep myself busy. :D I guess most of my free time goes with music too, designing and planning the shoots and gigs. And if I have free time apart from those, I love travelling, meeting my friends, hanging out in pubs and doing different kinds of sports.
11) Is there a thin line between your private life and your modeling activities?
I guess so. Or at least so far my modeling has been for things I’m also interested in my private life.
12) Do you travel a lot? How about coming to see us in Montreal in the future?
Yes, - and as I said, I love travelling and seeing new places - maybe Montreal could be one of those! ;)
