Meet Xarah von den Vielenregen, chameleon-like model and burlesque artist. Absolutely breathtaking...
1) When did you discover that you were interested in all things pin-up, fetish, etc.?
That was really early, I think at 12 or 13 I already was a big fan of Boy George and was very impressed of his style. Later, with 19 I discovered the Gothic scene, then I got in contact with the fetish scene and burlesque scene...
2) Are there artists/personalities that inspired you at first and still inspire you?
There are lots of artist who are amazing!! But I don't have any idols or something like that...
3) Many still say that Germany is a very liberal country concerning fetish what are your views on this?
That is true, Germany has a very big fetish and gothic scene, perhaps one of the biggest in the world...
4) What can we expect with a Xarah live performance? Do you really play with fire?
Yes of course I do!!! I do firedance with firepois, fire fans, fire breathing, fire eating... On my shows I combine burlesque and fire. I also have another more freaky performance - project, Die Donnerwetters. This is more crazy, more Carnival, more a fakir show or freakshow with a very special sideshow style.
5) What disappoints you more about the general public's perception of female alternative models?
I think this is getting better! In Europe or in Germany, I think there are some changes.
6) You're also a teacher of burlesque, aren't you? What kind of students enrolls in such classes?
Yes, at the moment I am travelling and performing very much, so I not often have the time for these workshops. I do basic workshops for women who want to get some basic ideas about burlesque.
7) Is there a thin line between the "modeling you" and the "real you"? How much has your work influence your personality?
My work has influenced me and I have influenced my work... :-) It is very important to draw a line between your personality and your job. I think my job is a great chance to express myself and I am more than happy with my job. But it also makes me very happy, when close friends tell me that they are glad, that in real life I have not changed myself because of my job!
8) What would be your degree of comfort towards bondage projects? Would you be willing to try out some shibari work, for example?
For a long time I plan to do some bondage work. But I am very picky with this theme and know exactly what I do want and not.
9) So how is your plan to become a "rich bitch" coming along? :D
It's is a fine plan and I am happy with it and well on my way... :-)
10) Any favorites activities to do when it?s just time to relax?
Just being lazy can be great sometimes, I love to do sports and plan new projects...
12) Did you ever traveled to North America? Montreal awaits you!!! ;)
I only was in LA and New York, but I really love to see more, especially Montreal I have to visit!!
