1) So what is the origin of Steffy the Rubber Doll? Did your persona develop overnight or was it in constant evolution?
Steffy was always with me in some form or other, but did not really all come together until I went to a Rubber social gathering about nine years ago. I had put all the elements together for this event that ultimately became my trademark look. So is was sort of overnight. Since then it has been a continuing evolution.
2) Were you already active on the fetish world or did becoming Steffy introduce you to the scene?
Yes, I was involved with fetish for many years prior to Steffy in private, but with the advent of this persona I took on a very public and active involvement in the fetish scene, which is ongoing.
3) Is there any kind of training/discipline one must develop to actually wear heavy rubber from hours on end?
There is to some degree. You must learn patience in dressing so as not to over exert yourself and get overheated to begin with. Once you are too hot you cannot adequately cool yourself so you sweat which cannot escape. You have to learn to control your body temperature at a comfortable level, keep hydrated and try to be as comfortable as you can. You have to learn to tolerate tight and restrictive outfits, multiple layers, and the difficulties it sometimes represents, such as washroom breaks.
4) Wearing a mask is a very powerful image; do you estimate that you would "behave" differently at a fetish event not having anything to cover your face?
Yes, I think that would influence my attitude and my confidence level to some degree as the comfort level would have changed.
5) What is your level of participation in the creation of your elaborate wardrobe?
Total, I make all of my own outfits based on things I have seen or my own ideas. I am extremely fussy about the look and fit of garments so the only way I can insure that is to make them to fit me myself.
6) You must have some kind of obsession with high heels, right? Can you tell us from where this comes from?
I wouldn't say I have on obsession with them, but I do like the way they add to the look of elegance, and how they make you feel. They definitely are the ultimate accessory. You have to pick shoes that work for you.
7) Do you figure that the whole fetish scene is been seen right now in a better light by the general public compared to ten years ago? And what can we expect ten years from today, in your estimation?
I would have to say yes generally, as the look is more mainstream than it used to be thanks to media, the internet, and the likes of fashion designers. Not everyone will accept it or like it but they are entitled to their views on things. I'm certain that things will continue to improve on this front.
8) Do have any plans to be at the next Fetish Weekend in Montreal? If so, what can we expect from you visit?
Yes I do. Hopefully I can provide some entertainment value as far as bringing to life some of the type of iconic imagery one sees on the internet. It is also a great time to be able to hook up with friends, old and new.
