Once again, versatility is the key when presenting a Siren... so let's learn what our guest Sophia Disgrace is so good at...

1) So how did a nice girl like you get involved in all that alternative photo business? You are nice, aren’t you? :D

Define 'nice'! I can be nice but a bit of a bitch at times also ;p! I started nude Life Modelling in art classes when I was 17 or 18. I actually just did this to see if I'd have the confidence to do it! I did and found I rather enjoyed the creative process of shoots and so on and I guess things built up very slowly from there!

2) Are there major artists or models that really inspired you in your beginnings? And still do?

There are a few people I admire within the industry for their work ethic and the quality of said work: Masumi Max (who doesnt think she is amazing?!), Sanzdora Partridge, Asia Argento, The Dwarves, Marilyn Monroe. There are undoubtly more but those are the names which first came to mind!

3) About tattoos & piercings: any future work? What’s the importance of body modifications in your life? And are you really able to do some yourself?

I definitely want more tattoos, in fact after my sleeve is finished, I am going to be getting my entire back covered! Piercing wise I'm happy as I am, but who knows maybe I will add to my collection once again! I enjoy how piercings and tattoos look and the process of getting body modification is quite significant - beauty through pain so to speak. I am a fully trained body piercer and worked freelance for 6 years. I had the opportunity to tattoo as well but wanted to focus on the piercing, I love tattoos but I would at best have made an average tattooist and I think that is an insult to over-saturate the industry for a quick buck - to all of the outstanding tattoo artists out there.

4) Do you consider that the alternative modeling scene in general is evolving?

I think it has had its time and has come up against a bit of a wall. There was the whole Suicide Girls phenomena a few years ago, but now it seems anyone with a few tattoos and piercings can 'model'. People think it's cool too, that they can be the next Bizzare cover model or whatever. I enjoy modeling but am bored of this scene, despite the fact my 'look' fits into this. It's no secret I'm focusing on more fetish style work, it has more scope and depth artistically.

5) You worked with Akasha Deville, didn’t you? What can you tell us about that other busy Siren?

It was a pleasure working with her. I respect her work a lot and admire her versatility. I loved our shoot together, the pics came out beautifully!

6) So… who’s Mia Miaow?

Ha ha! That is my old model alias ,one which on occassion I still use and I originally started working under .I am most commonly known as Sophia Disgrace. I choose Mia Miaow as Mia has always been a nickname of mine. Miaow was a play on this and I also can be quite feline so it seemed to fit!

7) Tell us a bit about your acting experience… what kind of roles have you portrayed and which ones that you’re aiming for in the future.

I have mainly acted in horror films to date, I am a huge fan of the genre so this is definitely an area I enjoy working in, fake blood doesn't phase me, I love it! That said, I'm always very happy to divert and experiment, I am working on a Russ Meyer tribute film Supervixens of London Town which has been lots of fun so watch this space!

8) What can you share about BthroughZ? And do you remember which horror film impressed you enough to become a big fan for life?

BthroughZ is an indie web review zine. It mainly focuses on horror and cult movies. I write reviews for them and also have a Horror Hostess slot on there. They produce a real high quality zine for both fanboys and those new to the 'scene', I love working with them.

The first horror I saw which really had an impact on me was An American Werewolf in London. I saw some of it at a friend's house when i was around 5, it scared the hell out of me, I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing! Later on films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Night of the Living Dead fed my passion for horror.

9) Did you children changed your views on life and career, would you say?

My children are wonderful and really put the meaning of life into perspective. They are however hard work and I need a creative outlet to stay sane! My modeling and other work provide this. It can be hard but it is possible to work and have children.

10) You worked as a domina, didn’t you? Do you have a particular style & favorite play activities?

I did briefly yes at various levels. I used to specialize in hard sports and watersports. I enjoyed it because psychologically it was an interesting dynamic and the Dominatrix role can be quite an empowering albeit complex one.

11) What do you consider “hard fetish”? Would you be able to shoot for more extreme theme, like complex shibari, for example?

I'm willing to give most things a go, I love trying new things and being out of my comfort zone, complex shibari sounds fun :)

12) With all that you are.. all that you do… can we hope to welcome you one of these days in Montreal? :D

I would love to come to Montreal, so hopefully yes one day I shall! Thank you for a great interview! xox
