Razor Candi
A model coming from Transylvania, can you believe it? Well, RazorCandi has her own visual style, that's for sure! Prepare yourself to discover a truly unique talent.

1) Tell us about yourself before becoming a model... were you a very social child or a solitary kid with a vivid imagination?

I was a social child, growing up with my [identical] twin sister made it rather impossible to be alone. I’ve always been a bit outgoing and social but I also had a vivid imagination as well.

2) What prompted you to choose that career path and to specialize in out of the ordinary projects? Did you start on more "mainstream" projects?

I wouldn’t really say that I choose the career path but more so followed it. I first noticed I was interested in it when I was around 16 or so and what enthralled me most was presenting my ideas and diverse styles. I felt at the end of each day I washed all the hard work down the drain and this is when I decided to start capturing it on film. I never really intended to be a model or actually thought of it as modeling until I earned recognition for my efforts. I started to take it more seriously when I realized I had something going for me and I pretty much haven’t stopped since.

3) Is there any "hidden symbolism" of you now living in Transylvania, Romania…? ;) How would you describe the fetish/goth/alternative scenes in your area right now?

There is no hidden symbolism of me living in Transylvania other than it is the residence of my husband. Though the Vampire and Dracula thing has always been quite captivating! Describing the scene would be a lot like describing The Easter Bunny, it’s either made up or it doesn’t exist! The Metal scene however is colossal.

4) In general, you act as your own makeup artist (which is stunning BTW!). Do you prefer to improvise on the spot or are you the type to plan well in advance?

Thanks! I have considered time and again on becoming a makeup artist, especially because I can’t model forever, and my ideas won’t just got away once I have retired from modeling. I’d love to continue with my styling ideas and the finest way for that would to become a makeup artist, I just haven’t found the right moment thus far. As of now I don’t need much time in advance to plan makeup ideas, usually once I know the theme behind the shoot I am able to come up with an idea on the spot.

5) Any interesting anecdotes/comments on your experience as a go-go dancer? How this could be transformed into an asset for your current modeling assignments?

Go Go dancing was very entertaining for me, I enjoyed it a lot but I think it essentially had to do with the staff I worked with. The Castle was like a big family to me. It is relatively different from modeling and in a way more enjoyable, I really felt my energy and persona ‘show off’, I really felt like a superstar! I really enjoy dancing and I am always interested in working events. The modeling actually got people into the club (not saying it was packed full of admirers, I just got approached a lot by people who came to the club because they knew I danced there) more so than the dancing got me modeling gigs, though I did start dancing after my name was well established in the scene. I don’t want to rule out the photographers I did meet while dancing at The Castle.

6) Have you been involved in many fetish events? Was it as a guest performer/model or sometimes as just a regular attendee?

I have attended a few fetish events as an attendee and also as a model and go go dancer. At one fetish event I met Angela Ryan who was performing and I had the pleasure of working together with her in a shoot. I never really become too familiar with the fetish scene though I have been giving it a lot of thought recently.

7) Do you design clothes yourself? Or do you have any say with regular designers that you work with?

Some of my clothing I have designed or modified to better fit me. I have also collaborated with designers, and the idea with modeling the designers work is to model what they have in mind, I do not generally tell the designer what I want to wear unless it is an idea to get the piece started, I then gain inspiration from the piece and create the styling and shoot around the article. Right now I am working with, in my opinion, two of the awesomest corset designers for Gore Couture. I am really happy working with them because I don’t feel that I have to plan things around their design, I feel that their design compliments the styling.

8) Is there a thin line between your modelling personality and your own private life? Do you like to "play out" in your intimate relationships?

There is a somewhat fine line, RazorCandi to me is definitely a persona I have created, I like RazorCandi to appear vain, dominant and graceful and I personally don’t think I am any of these and certainly not graceful! If you were to meet me you would notice I am very down to earth, easy going and quite clumsy, though the line is fine because RazorCandi and Kym are also strong, bold and outgoing and we both like sex.

9) Have you done any film work? What would be an ideal part for you in a feature-length movie, for example?

I have never done any film work, believe it or not I have always been kind of shy in front of a video camera, though it does interest me. My ideal part would definitely be the sexy tough girl, like one of the leading girls in a Quentin Tarantino film or a superhero!

10) What disappoints you more about the general public’s perception of female models?

What disappoints me most about the general public’s perception on female modeling is their misconception that models are by definition superficial and also how they use them as targets of their own frustration regarding their appearance which is generally unfounded anyway. Just because someone is a model doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate other traits in a person besides their appearance. Another issue is that I’ve noticed an increasing rise of the public opinion that models had extensive plastic surgery, I can see this happening with very highly paid famous models, but modeling just out of passion or as a hobby could definitely not support plastic surgery of any kind.

11) And to finish on a lighter tone… after marveling at your portfolio, it’s very difficult for me to picture you hanging out on your sofa wearing only a tee-shirt and sweat pants… can you prove me wrong? :)

Indeed, I actually have a quite recent photo of myself painting, this is what I like to do most during my spare time.

Kym at work!
