A new model coming from Dublin, we're very honoured to propose some of her work right here, right now!
1) Can you tell us about your background and why did eventually chose to model for alternative themes?
Point of Origin; Wollongong, Australia. Got packed up and moved to Ireland at the age of 3 with my Mum.... Being an Australian living in Ireland, and with a single parent to boot, people expect you to conform to certain stereotypes, and I found it difficult to explain to every second person why I'm not: A) Tanned; B) skinny as all Hell; and C) why I don't regularly use words like "dunny" or "mate". My way to express what others often see as a quirk or a break from the norm is Modelling. It helps me to explain who I am and has become rooted in my veins. The themes I shoot are usually ones that reflect my lifestyle and my interests. So if I shoot corsetry, it's because I like corsetry.
2) What fellow artists are an inspiration to you? Any current favorite models, photographers, etc?
Helmut Newton and Jan Saudek are possibly two of the most amazing and influential photographers whose work I have ever had the pleasure of casting my eyes upon. While Newton's work is more angular in its view of perfection and contrast, Saudek explores the grimey, dirty perfection of life as it is. Some impossibly stunning works of Fetish Art have come from them both respectively, albeit in different ways.
3) Why would you say that dark themes hold more appeal to you?
I would rather tell a story and cause a reaction in someone and make them gag over how much gore is in an image than have them overlook me because I didn't stand out at all. The dark, it's my thing, it reflects who I am as a person in a single picture, and I think that is the best that anyone could hope for.
4) What can you share with us about your film company? And are you really a film student?
I'm just about to start my third year of University at DkIT, studying film production. I love it and never want to get my degree if it means I can stay in college forever :). Bludworx is my pet project, it's a film company specializing in dark shorts and music videos and I'm the House Director. We've worked with some seriously talented people and made some great films and I hope that in the future we can take it a bit further and move into independant features.
5) Is it true that you also are a roller derby girl?
Yep, I play Derby every week and it's the only exercise I do. Usually I'm so lazy, it's scary. As a kid growing up I always sucked at sports and I was never on any teams that are worth mentioning. But when I turned 18, I found Roller Derby (which for those of you who don't know, is a full-contact sport play on on quad skates by girls), and I fell in love. Surprisingly, for a person who trips over her own feet while walking, I'm pretty graceful when I get on the track.
6) If you had the chance to star in a feature film, what kind of role would be interesting to you? And if you had to actually direct one, would it be in the same genre?
If I could star in a film, I would hope that I would be cast as the Lara Croft type, as in blurring the lines between the Female and Male roles by saving all the boys and kicking ass. And if I could direct a feature, I think it would have to be horror, but a proper 1970's psychological horror, rather than one that is a gore-fest from start to finish (not to say that isn't fun).
7) Is there a lot of fetish activity in your area (events, parties, etc.)? Do you attend these kinds of gatherings?
Dublin has a monthly fetish club night, and I enjoy dressing up (or down) and going to that. It's generally a night where you end up at home the next day nursing the wounds someone inflicted on you with their six foot Ninetails whip while you're strapped into part of the specially designed furniture.
8) Would you ever be interested in edgier themes (i.e. fetish, bondage, etc.)?
I would love to get involved in some more fetish based imagery, but I'm not sure where to start! I think I should probably just man-up, get over my nervousness about shooting a fetish or bondage nude and do it! Even if the shots were to turn out terrible, I could build from that and get better.
9) Any favorites activities to do when it’s just time to relax and chill out?
I love reading and sketching, my entire house is filled with books and sketch pads and random sheets of paper with scribbles all over them. I'm always finding pencils and erasers in my bed sheets as well because I'll wake up in the middle of the night and HAVE to draw something I've seen in a dream. I love relaxing with a good book and a bottle of wine....... Although that's not to say that I don't also love getting shitty at a Goth club, I find that is a great way to wind down after a stressful week.
10)Would you ever consider visiting us in Canada? :D
If I could afford it, and could take the time off work and college, I'd be there in a heartbeat :) I imagine it would be some crazy experience to put in the proverbial holiday scrapbook......
