We love to feature any new info about Vena's Evil Dolls, so it's now time to devote some worthwhile space to another one of these unique performers, the jubilant Noir Halo!
1) You seem to have started modeling as child… what path made you eventually chose the alternative/fetish scene to express yourself?
I started modeling when I was 5 years old. I did runway shows at department stores and photo shoots. Although I never had the right look to be a child model, I was always too tall and looked older than my age. When I got older, I realized that modeling wasn't all just about walking down a runway in a mall, there is all types of modeling work out there. I found the gothic style most appealing in the beginning, but I realized that the fetish side of modeling appealed a lot more to my creativity than being purely gothic or trying to look mainstream. Although I do some mainstream modeling, I find that I'll always prefer to go for modeling jobs that include me wearing latex and dark makeup!
2) Can you also tell us a bit about your skills as a designer & self-confessed “computer nerd”?
I've always been an artist and always been very interested in computers, so naturally, becoming a graphic designer was a an easy solution for my studies in college. I have a bachelor degree from Eastern Michigan University in graphic design and marketing. I've found that modeling and design go very well together. I've actually art directed models in photo shoots, edited photography and managed models for fashion shows and trade shows, I like to be behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera!
3) What can you tell us about Liquid Red?
Liquidreddesign.com is my graphic design portfolio website. I do a lot of freelance advertising design. I've had a lot of design clients that I've met in person go "really, I get to work with YOU on designing my flyer? It's usually some 5 foot tall nerdy guy doing graphic design, not a pin up model!" lol So, yes I'm available to design your flyer too! ;)
4) Always wearing all that fetish stuff, how does this reflect on your personal life? Do you play a lot on your personal/intimate time?
I go out a lot to fetish clubs and I do get a lot of use of my fetish attire and gear. Although, when I take it all off, I can get myself looking mainstream enough to do mainstream modeling events and even work with children! That's what clear tongue rings are made for!
5) What is it about latex that make all models wearing it go nuts? :D
Latex just feels so great and makes your curves look even sexier! How could anyone not love wearing it even every once in a while?
6) How did you ever get involved with Vena’s Evil Dolls?
I met Vena through my friend Ally who ran Chaos Productions in Detroit, Michigan, where I started doing fetish modeling. We wanted to get a group together that would do more fun and interesting types of performances and fashion shows. Vena is so great at promoting and I've done the work on designing the logo and working on our promotional materials. Each one of us in the group contributes in their own great ways. It's really a great group of girls, and not JUST great looking!
7) We have been corresponding with Vena for a couple of months now, her messages are always very pleasant and welcome. Now tell us… how is she really like? Tell us everything!!! :D
Vena is super awesome! I love that I can always joke with her and we poke fun at each other back and forth. She is really a pleasure to work with and a great friend!
8) What is a typical day for you to prepare when you have a big show coming up that evening? Do you have a specific routine?
If I have a big show coming up, we've most likely already done a rehearsal at least once before the day of the show, but we sometimes do an extra one right before the event to keep it fresh in our minds. I'm usually pretty relaxed the day of. I don't really get nervous at all anymore. I sometimes wish I did some of those pre-stage butterflies like in the beginning, but I guess I'm much more confident now.
9) Would you like to use this occasion to finally admit that YOU are the only one responsible for coming up with the best themes for any Evil Dolls events? Ha! (Seriously, what is your input?)
Yes! I love the themes I have come up with. Specifically, I loved the Paris Hilton Show that we did last year mocking Paris Hilton and how we twisted her look of carrying around a little puppy into walking pink and blue furry girls around on a leash and making them attack the paparazzi!
10) Any chance in seeing you or all the gals eventually perform in Montreal? :)
Possibly! I would like to make it up there for Montreal Fetish Weekend this year or next, it would be likely if we found a sponsor for the event. I love going to Canada. I actually used to go to a lot of Canadian fetish clubs in Windsor and Toronto when I lived in Detroit!
