Finally we have the great joy of welcoming the incomparable Kerri Taylor to this site, proof that it's never too late to do good!
1) Can you tell us a bit about your background (where were you born, childhood, etc.)
I was born in northern NJ. I started out doing acting in B-movies and I met a girl on a set that told me about the OneModelPlace site and I checked it out and started from there. I originally had no intention of ever really modeling as a job, it just seemed like a way to make easy money at the time as a ton of the acting projects I did never came out. This was always frustrating to me as lots of people promised me things that never happened/took advantage of me being naive which always sucks. I really wish I had someone to guide me when I first started with the acting/modeling because I really had no idea what the hell I was doing/who to trust/who not to, etc. I had no idea how to style myself or anything.
I cringe when I see old pics of me. I look like a random college girl with frizzy hair and a cheezy ass stripper outfit. I was a hot mess. When I started, I just did glamour and art nude shoots as I wasn't familiar with the fetish industry at the time. I was very vanilla. It wasn't till 3-4 years later that I started doing fetish work/conventions. I highly prefer fetish fashion to standard glamour now. I adore avant garde latex fashion shots with crazy makeup and hair.
2) Is there a specific movie or event that got you to be interested in the horror genre?
I have always been a big fan of horror movies and its just something I was always interested in and wanted to be a part of. I have always gravitated toward darker type things. I always loved all the hot gothic girls at Chiller. :) I love movies like the Saw series, as I love the art direction, the set design is so amazing. I always like gothic type pictures, gothic fashion and old gothic style mansions, old abandoned mental hospitals. Anything with a darker/scary type feel to it. I love Halloween and haunted houses as well. I'm really into spfx makeup and gore. That is something I have always found very interesting but it's not something I can personally do as I suck ass at makeup . lol
3) Are there any models that inspired you (or are still an inspiration to you)?
I really admired my friend Dorothy when I was a newbie model. I always looked at her pics and thought she was such a great model. She was so polished and beautiful and she always had nice clothes, and her hair/makeup was always great. I wanted to have a really nice portfolio full of beautiful pictures like she did. I also admire Valerie Whitaker for her fashion/beauty styling. I also really love Mosh, Darenzia, Rubberdoll and Jade Vixen. They too also always look so polished and beautiful and have amazing wardrobe and pics all the time. They have all accomplished so much in the fetish industry.
4) You worked with some Montreal filmmakers, mainly Sv Bell and André Dubois. Can you tell us what can be distinctive on how Canadian filmmakers work comparing to American ones?
I also worked with Geoff Klein on Bikini Girls On Ice in Montreal. It wasn't much different for me, just a bit of a language barrier at times haha. I do remember filmmakers in Montreal saying that they cast Americans a lot because they don't have the French accent and they are trying to appeal to a wider audience. I'm more happy by the final result of the Montreal films I have done as opposed to most of the American ones.
5) Going through your film credits, we can spot titles like Seduction of Evil, She Demons of the Black Sun or Assmonster. Is there a Jane Austen adaptation in your future or do you prefer to work on these independent productions?
I like working on the indie films as I feel very comfortable when it's a small crew/set and it feels more like a family you know?? I am very very shy so I think being around a large crew would be difficult for me. But I would like to do more mainstream films. Not a lead or anything like that, that would be way too stressful., but a small part would be nice.
6) We briefly met you in September 2009 in Montreal in an Asian restaurant where everyone was talking French and where you must have been a bit lost/bored. But fellow Siren Isabelle Stephen was there… can you tell us when did the two of you met and what kind of relationship do you have?
Yeah I had no idea wtf anyone at that table was talking about haha. We met at the Chiller convention years ago. She was doing some sort of art book with models/scream queens I believe. Then I just started coming up to see her and my friend luc(dbxxl) as well. We always went to the Montreal Film Festival and to Caberet Mado (the drag queen show place I LOVE that place!!). I don't go to Canada much cuz I always have major problems at the border lol. We are good friends and she is someone I admire and respect as she always seems to have it all together. I love her bunny putt putt :)
7) What would you say is the biggest misconception that the general public still believes in towards alternative models?
I guess that they are all wild party girls who do a lot of drugs, get drunk, and are very "loose" . People also think you are wiling to do porno crap just because you are willing to do fetish. It's not the same thing at all. Funny thing is I rarely go out and "party". I usually only go out to fetish clubs when I'm dancing/performing at an event and Im actually celibate for the most part unless I have a boyfriend hahahah. So just cuz I have sexy outfits and am a model don't get the wrong idea about me. A lot of guys assume that just because I have latex outfits that I am a dom and I do "private sessions". I am NOT a dom, so don't keep sending me emails like "Do you do strap on play mistress?" You will not be my buttslave. Sorry guys.
8) What is the best fetish event that you have ever been to, either as a performer or as a fan?
Probably Montreal Fetish Weekend or Fetishcon. The only fetish event I have been to in the last 2-3 years or so though are SMACK and STIMULATE in NYC. I go to more burlesque shows, goth/industrial parties, and local fetish parties nowadays.
9) Often wearing all that latex stuff, how does this reflect on your personal life?
I love how latex looks for shoots and for parties but that is the only time I wear it. I just wear my pajamas and sweats everywhere in normal life. Sorry to ruin your fantasy of a latex goddess, but I'm honest lol
10) Do you play a lot on your personal/intimate time? :D
No I'm not a lifestyler. Im only into fetish from the fashion aspect like corsets and latex. I like the parties because I like the performances and I really like goth/industrial music, but im not into getting suspended, whipped or domming anybody's big hairy ass.
11) What do you do when it's time to relax and be yourself (you have time to relax, don't you)?
I don't have much free time as I am always working, planning trips, looking for work or applying to castings, but when I do I go to burlesque shows (which is something I would really like to get into myself), see plays/shows, go to beach/boardwalk, swim in my pool, go to new restaurants, go go dance at clubs, and of course play with my super awesome guinea pigs: cannoli, creampuff, cupcake and gingerbread. They are my furry children!!
12) Do you have specific appearances planned for 2011? Any upcoming trips to Montreal?
I may go to Montreal Fetish Weekend or Dragon Con in Atlanta this year, but I'm undecided as of now. Im trying to do more local NYC/MASS/PA/MD area work now so I can stay closer to home. I'm also gonna be spending winters in South beach, FL area and try to get with agencies down there because I hate the cold ass winters here in NYC.
