1) Can you share with us a bit about your background and any info about your ethnic heritage?
I started modeling at 19 for a local NJ Goth-Punk band named "THE SKULLS" for their Dress Up and Die LP. I then just started doing promo modeling, fetish acting-modeling and Burlesque as a feature dancer. I am Spaniard-Sicilian-Roman and Russian with Austrian-French ancestory.
2) Anyone who loves Pola Negri is OK in our book! Are there many other women artists who influenced you (and still do)?
Theda Bara, Tempest Storm, Bettie Page, Ginger Rogers, Cyd Charisse. I love old Hollywood and silent films, classics and the 40's. Dancers and actresses from that era.
3) Did you start modeling on mainstream projects? From when did you begin working on favorite themes, mainly pin-up/fetish/gothic/punk, etc.?
I started modeling in Rock fashions, promo work. I also started doing Gothic-Fetish-pinup in my early twenties.I have done over 30 glamour-bike and music publications. Including Kerrang-Metal-High Society, Cherie-and Ironhorse US.
4) We love vampires so what is your degree of satisfaction when you are playing a vampire hostess?
The mystique and intrigue and empowerment I project and embody.
5) How would you describe a typical Diviana Devour burlesque performance?
There is nothing typical about any performance I do. I have been studying and training in theatrics and dance since an early age. So I have 2 decades of experience in burlesque and featuring. My shows are not only carefully planned out, choreographed and styled to my interest in music and I chose themes that suit my style and taste. Each show is unique and different with many dance forms incorporated.
6) Have you really worked with Eric Stanton? What can you tell us about that?
Yes I did a number of photo shoots for him as a artist model in NYC during my twenties. He was a very distinguished man of style and class. Very artistic and creative.
7) What can you tell us about your poetry work?
I have been writing poetry and songs since my teens. I have published over two decades of my written works in my book "CRYPTMYSTRESS" in 2008. Most are written about real incidences and my dreams.
8) You have done so many things in so many artistic fields… is there something left for you to discover and explore?
Yes I am now finally after two decades working with fire! and aerial in my performances. I used to dabble in small fire tricks and magic as well as pole in my previous years.
9) Are you glad that there are more curvy models doing quality work these days? There are, aren't they?
Yes I am. for years I was told you have to stay skinny to model. But retro and Bettie Page has brought it back! I am fit not fat I work out, walk/hike and dance daily. But due to most Americans in the business anyone over 105-115 is fat!
10) What do you do when you’re between assignments and just want to relax?
That depends and it is my personal quiet time. I do enjoy watching TCM classic movies and reading. As well as fine wine and dinning maybe the theater or travel. I also enjoy antique shopping.
11) What could have been your most challenging photo shoot, to date? Is there a line that you won’t cross?
I had to work with pigs blood for a horror shoot. That is where I draw the line doing gore with human or animal blood or a sexual shoot. I believe sexy can be with clothing and without portraying obsenity.
12) Did you get the chance to travel a lot for assignments? How about coming to visit us in Montreal in 2011? :D
I have traveled to South America, Europe, the Eastern southern states, the Caribbean and Denmark. My most recent Burlesque performance was two nights in Copenhagen Denmark at Club Faust. I would like to work in Canada, yes...
