Demon Vanessa Rosa
Let's meet another incredibly versatile talent, an outspoken model and a Scream Queen extraordinaire... enter the lair of Demon! (and of course the late great Gus!)

1) Could you tell us a bit about your ethnic background, childhood, etc. We understand that you had some tough times as a kid. What finally happened to make you decide to adopt a "morbid" attitude? :)

My father is Puerto Rican and my mother is Cape Verdian. Growing up I had really bad self esteem and confidence. Alot of that was the result of my father calling me ugly and stupid. And because those words were embedded into my brain, I ended up having an awful time during JR highschool. I was an easy target for bullies, and I wasnt able to stick up for myself. I wouldn't say I developed a morbid attitude, because generally, I'm a pretty happy person. :) But I defiantly started developing my "bad ass" personality when I made the transition to alternative modeling. It's the same concept of a four year old putting a Superman cape on, and thinking he has special powers. I found myself changing my attitude the second I put on Lip Service, and Tripp NYC.

2) You claim that there’s a thin line between your private life and your modeling activities. Should we be... very afraid?

I spill everything! I have no shame! And there is a logical reason behind it. I find that the more you voluntarily expose about yourself, the less "haters" will find to taunt you with. Granted its nobody's business what I do with my private life - it just takes a load of my shoulders knowing that no one is talking behind my back about gossip they dug up. Sometimes I'll laugh at the situation, and take it to the extreme - updating my MySpace status and announcing when I'm taking a crap in the bathroom. You want to be involved with MY private life? Well here you go! A huge steaming lump of gossip!

3) A question that we probably already know the answer for but just had to ask anyway: in a typical slasher film, who you rather play some bimbo-ish clueless topless victim or rather your average axe-wielding maniac?

I cant believe you just asked me that question. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!! Ha, no I'd much rather be the maniac, but as for average... I don't think so! Its The year 2009! Axes are out date, it's time to get creative! >:)

4) Can you give us some info about what that Miss Horrorfest competition was all about? And what are your other many implications in the Horror scene?

The Miss Horrorfest competition is a contest that's held once a year, to determine the new spokesmodel for Afterdark films "Horrorfest 8 films to die for". The winner would promote alongside After Dark for one year. Before I had entered this contest, I was more involved in modeling then anything else. I guess you could say I had somewhat of a lack of experience for being a spokesmodel. I have no regrets doing Miss Horrorfest (even though I lost), I think that the experience I gained opened a lot of doors for me. I'm now being looked at as more then an "alternative model", now people are referring to me as a "Scream Queen". With that said, I'm defiantly going to start perusing more horror related projects.

5) We just have to know about your own list of favorite horror films, past and present… yes, we’ve gotta know!

Favorite horror films! Call me a kid, but I will ALWAYS be a fan of Anything Tim Burton is involved in. The Nightmare before Christmas, and even Edward Scissorhands. As for actual "scary" flicks, I tend to be a bit picky. I usually prefer remakes over originals. I think it has a lot to do with technology and special effects used in early 1970ish films... THERE WAS NONE! I'm not a fan of cheesy, B-movie directing/effects. Screw originals!

6) You wrote a book on modeling (Gothix Model: A Guide to Alternative Modeling). What prompted you to pursue that project? And what is the single main advice you could give to any aspiring model?

Well it may sound a bit lame, but I was getting swamped with questions from girls wanting to know how to get into alternative modeling. And instead of responding over and over and over again to these people, I decided to just put it all down in print. Gothix Model was the first book that I ever did, I'm not going to lie - I'm not completely impressed with it. Which is why I took it down from public sale (it still can be purchased through me). I plan to re-do that book in the near future. As for advice on getting started... DONT GIVE UP! Some girls naturally will book jobs in a heartbeat. Others are not so lucky, and have to work twice as hard to get noticed. I was part of the "other crowd" and there were times that I just wanted to flip burgers for the rest of my life. But instead, here I am still climbing the industry ladder :)

7) OK we should talk about fetish now (geez, question 7 already and no mention yet!). What is your level of enjoyment doing such shoots? Are you fanatic about that kind of wardrobe?

I REALLY wish I had a bigger wardrobe! I mean I own a lot of lace, heels and corsets - but what I'm missing are some nice, tight latex outfits! I dont know what it is but the appearance of latex a woman's body just makes me completely bonkers!

8) Of course, tons and tons of people want to know… do you "play" in real life?

HA! I do not play in real life. Have I wanted to try? Of course, I think everyone has a bit of curiosity. However, I haven't found a willing partner to explore any kinky play time lol. To scared maybe.

9) Have you attended a lot of fetish events? If so, any special memories?

I actually have not attended any fetish events! I want to, but then the lack of experience kicks in again. Ive done lots of fetish video work and a few fetish photo shoots. However because I'm usually booked for gothic/horror related projects, I dont think im ready to roll with the big dogs yet :(

10) OK let’s finish on a lighter note… on your classic photograph Insanity is our friend (last pic above), is the little furry guy on the table a personal friend or a professional model hired for the day?

OH! That's Gus! A Co-worker of mine moved to Las Vegas and I adopted him. I realized that this Gus was a bit more "domesticated" and smarter then a lot of small animals that I've had in the past. He would follow me everywhere, and come when I called him! Like a fricken dog! Unfortunately he passed away last summer due to pneumonia. I miss that little guy :(
