When Deanna sought us out to apply for Siren membership, just looking at one or two pictures was enough to convince us to include her in the guest list! We're pretty sure that you'll feel that way too!
1) How did you start working as a model, and what precisely attracts you to more alternative themes?
It was pretty simple. I was originally very attracted to Bettie Page, Dita Von Teese, Marilyn Monroe, the classic pin-ups when I was about 16 or so. I had always thought about modeling even when I was 11 or 12, but didn't realize that there were fetish models and you didn't have to be stick thin, and once I looked it up and saw them when I was really close to 18, I thought I would give it a try. I've always been into the alternative lifestyle and wanted to be myself when I started modeling so I did a darker kind of pin-up. It got boring really fast so I decided to try shooting more fetish and horror themes.
2) So… you got into music by being introduced to The Misfits, right? At that point on, did you lose a lot of friends that were more inclined to more "maintream" musicians?
I was pretty much a loner growing up. When my brother introduced me to The Misfits when I was about 11, I really only had about two friends, and I stayed friends with them throughout most of high school because they were the same as me and pretty much started listening to non mainstream bands as well.
3) Some of your photo work (and your generous curves!) can remind one of some actresses of the 50s and 60s. Do you have any favorite female personalities from these particular decades?
Thank you so much! Well, I absolutely adore Vampira (Maila Nurmi) and Carol Borland but I also like non horror models/actresses like Bettie Page and Betty Grable. I can appreciate any woman from that era though, they were always classy and gorgeous!
4) You confess to love traveling around. Would you consider offers to go to other countries? How about coming to see us in Canada? Please?
I love traveling, sadly I dont do enough of it! I haven't been very far out of the U.S. I would love to come to Canada, especially for Montreal Fetish Weekend! Will you buy me a plane ticket? ;)
5) Among many others things, you were a Fangoria 2010 Spooksmodel Semi-Finalist. Now, you’ve got to tell us what this was all about?
Fangoria is a horror magazine (which I'm actually not to fond of, it's all new horror which I am not into at all) and they have a contest every year for a spokesmodel that comes to all the conventions and gets in the magazine, I thought I would try out for the hell of it. I didnt really feel like bugging people to vote for me so that's why I didnt get past the first round and you had to pay for your own flight ticket to L.A. for them to choose the winner, which kind of sucks!
6) Tattoos: always a work in progress or are you done? What would you like to express more, if possible?
That's a good question! I don't mind girls with lots of tattoos but that's not really for me. I have two on my thighs that I'd actually like to get removed sometime, I didn't really think it thru, and it's not as good as it could have been. I am planning a graveyard scene on my leg and I'm going to get (another) bat tattoo, and I'm sure over the years I will have a few more but I will never be covered in tattoos because that's just not really for me. It is very addicting but I try to tame myself! ;)
7) What is it about wearing latex that many models find so enticing?
I'm not really sure. I personally feel so sexy in it, it shows off all my curves in the right places and the feeling of it is just unexplainable. It does show up really really good on camera as well!
8) Do you enjoy taking part in fetish events, be it as a performer or a fan?
I've actually only been to one fetish event so far. This past November I went to Detroit for Exotica 4. It was very very fun and I'm pretty addicted to fetish events now! ;) I would love to eventually perform or do runway at one of the fetish events.
9) AMF Korsets. Why these hold the most importance to you? :)
I love the way there corsets seem so otherworldly, apocalyptic, Just completely out there, no one else makes corsets like them. They are also really really expensive. Hopefully one day someone will buy me one or they will shoot with me! *hint hint* ;)
10) Gaah! You’re going to Fetishcon in August 2009! There will be a lot of Sirens present, so readers take note! Will this be your first visit at this event and what do you expect regarding that weekend?
Yes, this will be my first year! I'm hoping to be there the whole weekend! I expect to meet a lot of gorgeous models and great photographers that I've seen online for sooo long and see ridiculous amounts of sexy latex!
