With a very striking and different look, this guest is someone who has touched many bases in the alternative art world. Be prepared to discover a fascinating talent!
1) Can you share with us a bit about your background and when you started modeling?
I studied acting, and in acting school I received professional training in various forms of dance. So I began to dance - cage dancing as well as stripping - for fun and profit when I was 20. I officially stopped stripping when I was 21 and just recently started performing solo burlesque/strip shows again. I have been working in various forms of art all of my life, including film, performance, literature and music. About my modeling - I had been working as a model for graphic artists since 2001, but I didn't take up photographic modeling until 2006, and I have been pursuing modeling seriously since the summer of 2007.
2) From where did you get the attraction to participate in alternative photography?
I am an artist and a fetishist with a dark personal nature, so nothing could have been more natural. Modeling to me is just another form of artistic expression.
3) So has it always been a good thing to have the palest skin known to man? :D
Yes :) I love my pale skin! I have to avoid the sun as much as possible so I don't burn up, but there are way worse things in the world.
4) Can you describe what can be one of you typical burlesque performance?
My shows are something in between burlesque and stripping. Calling them "theatrical strip shows" might be most accurate, since I am not sweet and flirty but bring more of a tough, badass attitude to the stage, which is a stripper thing and not a traditional burlesque thing. In my show "The Countess" for example I play a vain vampiric character narcistically playing with her own blood - and shedding her clothes, of course.
5) Viewing from outside we always get the impression that Germany is a Paradise for all fetish enthusiasts; is it so and… why?
Yes, probably. I don't care much for Germany and the scene here, though, I just happen to be born here. I spend as much time abroad as possible.
6) Would you say that it’s unusual for you, with all your credits & experience and the genres that you work with, that you don’t have any body modifications?
I was just thinking about that earlier today... I like my body to be a blank canvas, as I am not only a model but also an actress and a performance artist. Body mods are kind of a double-edged sword. I suppose getting modified might help me getting more alt and possibly fetish modeling gigs, but they would very probably lose me art and glamour gigs, since I am a very classical type. I love tattoos, though, so once I stop modeling I might get tattooed. As for piercings, I love them on other people, but I already have all the holes I need.
7) What do you expect in doing a first shibari shoot, hopefully one of these days? ;)
I've already done a shibari shoot with American photographer/rigger Zee Maitri in the spring of 2009, I just don't keep the images in my portfolio since I weighed quite a bit more then and the pictures don't represent my body accurately anymore. I really want to shoot some stunning new shibari images for my portfolio asap, but I haven't found a suitable rigger to work with over here yet.
8) Have you ever consider being a photographer yourself at some point?
Yes, that is one of my plans for the future. I do photograph a little bit, for example I have shot the cover for the DVD of my latest film.
9) What do you do when it’s time to relax? And do you “play” in your private life?
I read a lot, I am into music and banging my head at gigs and festivals, painting, watching and analyzing movies. And most of my close friends live far away from me, so I enjoy lenghty phone conversations with them. And, yes, I am a fetishist, and I play.
10) Have you ever been to Canada? You know that we would like to welcome you!
No, I haven't yet, but I have family there and I plan to visit some day.
