Here's one of the best interviews we did in a while: Alyse is so fascinating in what she says... and of course, in what she looks like!
1) Can you share with us a bit about your background?
I'm just your average crazy, really. You know, a girl next-door sort of girl. I was raised in LA by a metal-head father and a music-loving mother. I'm the by product of the 80's and cocaine. I've been a model for 9+ years, now specializing in fetish and pin-up and alt fashion.
2) How did you start out in modeling… was it in more mainstream projects first? Why are you more attracted by alternative projects?
Funny story... I was a child actor. I was discovered by the Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile when I was 11. It was a little crazy for a young child. But my mother always made sure that outside of work I had a regular childhood. This background very much shaped the woman I turned into. And I will always be grateful for it.
3) What would you say is the biggest misconception from the public eye towards alternative models?
... eh. I think it's pretty much all true. We're wild, crazy, reckless, creative, genuine people. Every woman I have met in this industry I am very fortunate to have in my life. Some I would even call family. So, yeah, maybe sometimes we enjoy life to more drastic extremes than most. But... We're still here, very much alive and have many stories to share.
4) What is your degree of comfort when posing with other models? BTW what kind be the worst possible behavior a model can have on a shoot that could make you want to strangle her?
Most of the time the second I'm on set I am 110% comfortable... no matter who's there. Most ladies I have worked with are warm hearted and enjoy fun enough to make sure everyone is having fun. Crank up the music and have a dance party between shots! :) Worst possible model behavior?... I would have to say the girls who see everyone as competition, who are constantly looking for a reason to gossip. They don't seem to understand that everyone in the fet world knows EVERYONE and the news of catty attitudes travels fast. We're all here to help each other and support. I often get jobs where the company asks me in if I know of any other girls who would like to shoot... if you are not enjoyable to work with then the odds of you landing any more jobs are not good.
5) Tell us all about your acting experience, which movies were you part of and what kind of films usually gets your attention?
I was in a indy film called Cherrie Mapping, where I played a model who survived a rapist/serial killer and my story helped find his other victims... a bit too morbid for me seeing as how I'm a method actor... I was taking cold baths for a week. haha. Some of my favorites include a music video (Demonia "In the Meat") where I played a serial killer who prayed upon pervert men. I had a lot of fun with that role. Another was "Pray to Me" a short film where I played an angel who answered the prayers of those wishing for death. I like playing evil... it doesn't take much for me to snap myself into those roles. When picking a script I normally lean towards those that involve me going crazy. I love it! Especially in unnecessary amounts of fake blood are involved.
6) We’re kind of bored with the Maxim shooting style too… what kind of projects can really inspire you?
I'm currently designing shoots based on songs that inspire me. Music is a large passion in my life. So I suppose you could say a lot of my shoots coming up express me as an individual and less as a brain dead sexpot. I'm also thinking of incorporating my love of literature (and no vampire crap crap).
7) What kind of stage performances can we expect of you when you take part of a burlesque show or fetish events? (did we really see you step out of a coffin?)
No matter what the show is I can always promise that my performances will always me 100% me. No manufactured shit here! I have never once let someone tell me what I should do on stage. If i didn't have the ability to make everything I do may own why would I waste my time being someone else? My burlesque will never be happy rosy cheese cake and fetish shows will never be all sex pot all the time... I have fun with every job I choose to take. And I think it shows in my work. (and yes I did skank my way out of a coffin... Coffin Case Rules!)
8) Would you be up to do some more stuff involving bondage? Or is there a line that you won’t cross?
I love bondage. I'm a huge fan of ropes. No pun intended but lately I've been learning the ropes... you know ties and all that neat stuff. So there will be more bondage in my future and there will always be bondage somewhere in my life. Only line I won't cross is porn. I have some morals that I need to maintain to preserve my self respect.
9) A pet bat named Icky? We have to know more…
Ok. Ickibod is a preserved bat suspended in formaldehyde. But don't panic yet... There's a bit of a story to this. I used to travel a bit for work, New York, Texas, Vegas, and all over Cali. During this time I had no boyfriend (and more importantly no real want to have one). But coming home to an empty apartment was getting a bit depressing. Seeing as how I wasn't home enough to have a living pet I had to improvise before I went all single white female on everyone. So I got Icki, this way I never had to worry about coming home and my pet being dead. The only thing I'd have to worry about would be coming home and him being alive.
I have recently added a living pet to my happy family, Artimus, my little reptilian angel. I don't really do fluffy animals, my love is for our cold blooded scaled friends.
10) So you did a parody called… Lady Caca? Now what can that be, we wonder…?
Yeahhhh... I poke a bit of fun at Lady GaGa. I had fake poop fling at my face while I did a little risqué floor dance in a pile of it. Did a little dance in Depends and make out with another lady CaCa while swapping a 3muscateers in our mouths.If you're thinking that it's gross... that's because it is. :)
11) So what do you prefer to do when it’s time to relax?
Relax? What does that even mean... I'm a I am a Model, Photographer, Actress, Event Host, Rockstars Wife, lizard mommy, Student, Burlesque Performer, GoGo Dancer, Make up artist/Hair Stylist, Small business owner and a over all bad ass. I'm pretty sure I've forgotten what sleep is.
12) At some point, do you figure that you could travel a lot more for your work? How about coming to Canada soon? ;)
I'm always up for travel! I'm a gypsy, I go where ever my caravan takes me. p.s. I have family in Canada and I love it there, next visit, a video interview, perhaps?
