It would be too easy to describe this guest as "colorful"... but seems that we really have no choice!!! :)
1) Can you share with us a bit about your background and when did you actually start modeling?
Hello everyone I’m Aleata Illusion, I just turned 24 and I’m originally from the shit hole Wooster, Ohio. I’m a filmmaker, horror blogger, model, photographer, writer, and ultra violent gore girl. I work and go to school in Kent, Ohio. I’m majoring in Photojournalism (of course)! Well I've always had modeling in my blood. I've been into modeling and photography as long as I can remember. I love prettying myself up and people taking pictures of me. I love looking at the pictures in a bundle of joy like “EEEKKK THAT’S ME”!!
2) What was the turning point that eventually made you a horror film fanatic?
I've always been a horror hound since I was a little one. As I got older I gradually became involved in more and more horror related activities: horror photography, gore modeling, film making, horror blogging, horror conventions, and of course my collection of horror movies is HUGE! It’s what I relate too, it’s what I love more than anything!
3) What prompts you to change hair color so often? Your moods… or the changing seasons… or…? And are there any colors that you haven’t tried yet?
I love trying different hair styles and I LOVE bright pretty colors! I’m a really impulsive person, so if I see a color I like or think of a new way to do my hair, you better believe it’s happening right then and there! I’ve had my hair every color of the rainbow and more, I don’t think there’s any I haven’t tried.
4) How easy is it to be an alternative model in Kent, Ohio?
It's pretty easy. I just moved here and people are way more open minded. I’ve always had my own original type of modeling, always done blood sets to express my love for horror and of course always been copied. I think that happens everywhere no matter where you are though. People see your originality as a trend and want it for themselves and it’s just annoying. I do this because I am passionate about it, not because I’m trying to be someone else. Imitation is nowhere near flattery. I think that’s the hard part about it, but it’s unavoidable. People hold models up as icons and as icons there’s a price to pay. Anyways I know a ton of photographers around the area and they are a blast to work with. People are always filling my inbox with messages and e-mailing me wanting to shoot with me, or help them with a music video, or do FX make-up. I don’t have to search anyone out, I stay pretty busy. I network from various different websites, so my name is thrown around everywhere.
5) Would you be intrigued to do basic fetish shoots (latex, leather, rubber, etc.) at some future point?
Oh Yes! I love the fetish and bondage look. Just none of the weird kind where girls are putting stuff inside themselves. Don’t do porn modeling.
6) Let’s say that someone offers you to play the lead part in a major remake of a horror film classic… what would you like this film to be?
See this is a hard question because I’m not a fan of remaking classics. It hits home when I see crappy Hollywood directors/producers destroying something that was an original work of art. They just don’t get it. There are very few people that can pull off a remake. I don’t support remakes whatsoever. I mean that’s all they are doing nowadays. Remaking (mostly already bad) Japanese horror movies and classics. It’s disappointing and to a point where I just can’t take it anymore. I won’t pay to view any, unless it’s being made by someone I feel can really pull it off. But to answer your question, if I was to play a part in one I’d want it to be Kristy Swanson’s part as Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and hopefully Paul Reubens would be recast as Amilyn. I would absolutely die. I can honestly tell you that I watch either the Buffy movie or the show every single day of my life. Also I’m getting a Buffy tattoo soon to show my love. =]
7) What would you say is the ratio on Model Mayhem between serious offers and jokers desiring only to date you or wanting to shoot porn?
Oh my God! I’m glad you brought this up. There are more perverts and weirdos on that site then anyone could imagine. I get more e-mail from the creepers wanting me to do free nude shoots in their BASEMENT…are you serious? I’m not stupid and even if I trust that the photographers real, I’m still bringing two big escorts with me. I also get a shit ton of requests for “Webcam work”. No, I am not going to play with myself on a webcam in front of a bunch of pervs. I can’t believe these people have the indecency to ask me some of the questions they do. The perverts need to realize it’s a site for MODELS not PORNSTARS and we don’t fall for that dumbshit! This happens with movies too, people will contact me saying they want to work on something or want me to help and the next second are trying to invite me to underwear parties or asking me out. It’s disgusting. I only work with people who take me seriously as a person, not some chick they want to date. I have a boyfriend that I love very much and don’t need random creepers hitting on me.
8) What can you tell us about Maggot Mosh Productions?
I formed Maggot Mosh Productions years ago, it was renamed from being Man eating skeleton productions, which I had formed with my ex boyfriend John Logic who was a B-movie actor. Since we parted ways, I thought it would be appropriate to change the name and get a fresh cast and crew. We have made plenty of short films and spoofs. Only have a few posted on youtube.com. Things are going downhill with the movies because I’m in school and working two jobs and still trying to write as much as I can. I still work on my scripts though, and soon they will be unleashed into the world. MMP is still alive and well, just on hold for a bit.
9) You also act as a photographer yourself, don’t you? Do you pursue the same themes that please you as a model or do you get inspired by different things?
YES! I’ve been taking photos my whole life and now that I’m in school for photojournalism I’ll be doing professional photography. It’s exciting this was the one thing I was doing before making movies, I know it’s crazy! I get inspired by all different types of things. It depends on the person, location, or whatever crazy creative shit I’m thinking of at the moment. I love shooting other people and it’s especially fun to help them out with new ideas and poses and such. When you’re a model/photographer you’re playing both sides of the fence and know everything you need to know! Mostly models don’t feel uncomfortable asking you questions if they are new to modeling and I encourage anyone to ask questions if they need to.
10) Do you have any long-term plan about future tattoo work on yourself? How about more body piercing? What would you like to express more?
Oh goodness! My whole body is being covered from head to toe in tattoo’s. I literally have them all planned out and written down. I love ink! I was a body piercing freak back in the day, but I’ve cut down on the piercings. With tattoo’s they are healed and that’s that but with piercings you have to take care of them and make sure they don’t get caught on stuff. I just don’t have the patience to dick with them anymore. I do pierce other people though, another hobby of mine. I can tell you I’m getting a ton of movie related tattoo’s done!
11) Do you have any elaborate career plans for the future? Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
I hope to see myself completely in the writing and film making business. It’s what I’ve been working for my entire life and it’s where I want to be. I want to be sipping vodka and hanging out with Joe Lynch, haha. I still see myself continuing my other hobbies as well such as modeling, photography, clothing design, animal activism, special FX make-up, etc. I’m going to do everything I’m good at, cause that’s what I was born to do. But nothing compares to making movies, nothing replaces that feeling I get directing. That’s my one true love in my life.
12) Would you ever consider traveling outside of the USA, at some point?
I would LOVE to! I’ve always wanted to travel to film fests around the world and being a filmmaker that’s what you eventually get a chance to do. Watch your movie in front of an entire audience of screaming fans. I couldn’t even comprehend what that would feel like. Some places I’ve always really wanted to visit are New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Austria, Canada, and Hawaii. It would be spectacular to visit those places!
