Aesthetica Nocturna
Don't be fooled by those eyes... this model's touch of the macabre can be very deadly... and still be very entincingly seductive!

1) So when did you make the choice to become a fetish-alternative-goth model? Have you done more mainstream projects before?

I sort of 'fell' into it, I didn't mean to get into modeling at all. It started off a couple of years ago, one of my very good friends was trying out photography and she asked me to model for her. I though it would be fun and had my first ever photo shoot... it just sort of carried on from there! It's only been very recently that i've taken an interest in the fetish style after extending my collection of pvc clothing! As far as mainstream projects go, I'm currently a part of the two Nottingham, UK based Apocalypse Girls and Perfect Storm PRO Models.

2) Can you describe to us the fetish scene in Derby, United Kingdom… hmmm, there is one, is there?

There is a small fetish scene in Derby but it's very underground- I've only just been given some of the names/locations of the buildings. I'd like to go to some of them, it'll be a new experience. We used to have a burlesque/fetish night in the town called Heresy n Heelz, but due to complications with the venue they have now moved to Birmingham, UK.

3) Unique and indefatigable Siren Distorted Orchid put you on our path… what info can you share with us about her and is it true that she wore a pair of your own boots for a photoshoot?

Distorted Orchid is incredible. I met her and worked with her at the first group shoot for Perfect Storm Models. She's an absolute star, very outgoing, friendly and very easy to talk to. We both had a great laugh together and it was brilliant to see a curvy woman modeling! She pulls everything off and looks absolutely gorgeous! And yes, it's true that she wore my 6-inch Demonia platforms, and ended up falling over! We all shared clothes at the shoot, and it was great fun!

4) What can you tell us about the Apocalypse Girls and Perfect Storm Models?

Apocalypse Girls is a website that was set up in 2006 for photographers and models. Their aim is to show natural alternative beauty and talent- they dislike editing. Alternative girls can apply through the website and their applications are discussed with the two lovely people who run the site, if you are accepted then you have the ways and means to get in touch with the photographers from nearby areas! It's full of brilliant photographers and gorgeous models (and non-models too!) from across the country who are all fantastic.

Perfect Storm I have very recently joined, they are a little bit more strict on who they accept; usually you have to have 10+ shoots under your belt. Looking at creativity, beauty and enthusiasm, there's such a variety and diversity of both male and female models, and i'm very happy to say that I have been taken on to be a Perfect Storm PRO model :) They are very determined to meet their goals and they will succeed in everything they do. I have had the pleasure of being one of the models involved in the first group shoot they organised, supporting a variety of local models and photographers. Was one of the best days I have experienced and cannot wait for the next one! They have a new website currently being set up.

5) Being a well-curved model and working mostly in the alternative scene, do you find that this is a "double challenge"? What is your take on all these skinny things on mainstream runways around the world?

I sometimes find it a double challenge as most people find beauty and attractiveness in being stick thin. That was one of the reasons I got into modeling after I'd tried it out, because I was curvy. It's also a huge confidence boost. A lot of photographers don't want to work with girls who have a little bit extra. Thankfully, most are very welcoming to different sizes.

I have very odd views on runway/catwalk/glamour industries and the models they use, they're usually very plain due to such strict 'guidelines' that are set. They don't represent average people and there's so much editing going on that it becomes misleading. I prefer showing that you don't have to be a size zero, that I'm representing the female figure and individuality.

6) What are your future plans concerning new tattoos and piercings? What would you like to express more?

I'd like to get more piercings in my ears, I'd love a lip piercing but the future career path doesn't permit them. I think I'll eventually go for a belly button piercing... As for tattoos, that's a whole new level!

7) How was it to wear these wicked blue eyelashes for a photo shoot? Do you like to transform yourself for these assignments?

They were probably the most amazing eyelashes I've worn to date! I do like to transform myself in all shoots, different hair, clothes and makeup, etc. It's great to have a range of styles so you're not stuck looking boring! In that shoot I was actually wearing my normal everyday clothes, the eyelashes were just something to make it a little different.

8) What would be your degree of comfort towards bondage projects? Would you be willing to tryout some shibari work, for example?

I'd like to try it out, it's a confidence thing at the end of the day. I have already tried Shibari ropework thanks to a UK based expert called WykD Dave. I found it very exciting and I'll hopefully do more work within that field.

9) Do you attend fetish events? Have you ever considered performing on stage for one?

I haven't attended one yet but that will hopefully change soon. I don't think I'd start performing, I wouldn't know where to start!

10) Video or film work, at some point? What kind of character would you like to portray in a movie role?

Again, it's something I'd like to try. My character could be a range of things, anything from dark and mysterious to fantasy and messed up! Vampires, faeries, nymphs, psychotics, asylum patients...

11) You seem to be a big fan of another Siren, mainly the amazing Sinteque. Are there other models that you look up to?

I look up to many; I have a lot of friends who are models and I always love their work, I really admire them all. To list them here would take forever!

12) Argh! You are a vampire fan, aren’t you? Any chance of some day coming to Montreal to also collaborate on our Vampires project? :D

I am a HUGE vampire fan, I find them incredibly sexy. A project you say? I definitely wouldn't say no!... as long as travel expenses are paid! haha.
